Unit 14 Civil Service — October Report

Sisters and Brothers,

We MUST organize the non-members so that we have the leverage to garner the wages and benefits that you absolutely deserve!

Joel Barton, Business Manager of IBEW Local 11 authorized the purchase of T-Shirts exclusively for Civil Service members, and I now have them ready for disbursement to you the member. Please contact me so that I can visit your shop right away!

Below are updates to our contracts:

LAUSD: Nothing new on the issue of the district attempting to create a new “maintenance supervisor” position. As soon as I have new info, I will disseminate. The District is however, attempting to have Seniors forgo their daily flat rate. This is, in our opinion, an incorrect interpretation of the MOU. IBEW Local 11 is willing to take this fight on. Please contact me so you can be part of the group grievance so we can get the compensation we deserve!

LA County: At this time it is extremely important that we be as strong as possible. Please contact me so that we can schedule a time and date for IBEW Local 11 to visit your shop in order to organize the non-union. Full membership is imperative to our future gains!

LA City: The 2.9% raise should have already taken effect. The 3% salary adjustment as of July 7th is on its way. I thank you for your patience! Your retro money should be in your pocket by the end of the year. If you have any questions, please contact me on my cell (626) 712-4769.

MOU 35: We are very close to finishing the details of your much anticipated new contract! I am very hopeful that you are satisfied with the positive changes that we were able to achieve. As soon as I have more info, I will get it to you.
