IBEW 11 Safety Program

Welcome to a brand-new day my brothers and sisters,

I hope and pray you and yours are doing well. So many things have changed since my last communication. But at this moment, I want to speak of the positive things. There is not enough paper to write all the good things people are doing for each other now. I am humbled by the amazing generosity so many people have shown to each other. So many things the members and staff are doing for each other. Helping with info or even a place to shower. Looking after each other. Food bank give away. Food Bank food donations. Brotherhood at its finest.

There may be a pandemic, but our sisters and brothers continue to work through it. We were built for this work. We are the Brothers and Sisters of the IBEW. It has been a very special time to go and visit the sites where so much great work is going on.

So many were receptive to the new,” I am my Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper” Safety Program. So very many had comments like, “been doing it my whole life”, “Dang right I am”, “Of course I am” …never gets old. Our IBEW is in good hands if your hand is in it. That is the IBEW tradition. Safety starts by looking after those around you. Hand in hand we move forward. We are in this together. Stay strong. We will get through this together.

Finally, we recently renegotiated the CE/CW MOU during this difficult time… After long days we were able to secure a raise for our brothers and sisters in this classification. We are united under the IBEW flag. Any gain is a win currently, and we live to fight another day. Those members are voting and sending in ballots which is historical currently. I was proud to be part of it. A positive movement. Thanks to all involved.

We are also in the process of an allocation that puts us at a historical wage. I remember when no one could envision we were asking to make $20 an hour. Another positive movement. Good stuff. Stay positive.

Take care of each other. Lift one another. Reach out and call those in your phone contact list. Call me if you need anything. Call if you need safety issues addressed. Call me if you need another contact number. Call. Stay in touch.

God bless America. God bless you, yours and our IBEW family.

Yours in Brotherhood,

Bro. Ivan De Herrera, Jr.
Asst. Business Manager
Director of Safety
